About the event
The TCS Sydney Marathon is Australia's largest marathon and one of the world's most prestigious running events. In 2024, it became the seventh Abbott World Marathon Major, joining an elite group of races that attract runners from around the globe. Today, tens of thousands of participants travel to Sydney each year to take part in this iconic event.
The course follows the legacy of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, starting in North Sydney before crossing the Sydney Harbour Bridge and passing many of the city's most recognisable landmarks. Runners make their way through The Rocks, Circular Quay and Centennial Park before finishing in front of the world-famous Sydney Opera House, creating one of the most spectacular finish lines in marathon running.
Whether you're chasing a personal best or completing a World Marathon Major, the TCS Sydney Marathon delivers an unforgettable race day experience. Alongside its world-class course, the event has built a strong community spirit and has raised millions of dollars for charitable organisations since its inception.
Combining elite competition, breathtaking scenery and one of the world's most recognisable city backdrops, the TCS Sydney Marathon has become a bucket list event for runners from Australia and around the world.
